Truck traffic on German roads continues to increase – economic recovery is in progress

On the motorways in Germany, the mileage of trucks traffic has risen again. However, this is still well below the level before the coronavirus crisis.

From April to May the mileage had already increased. However, the data shows how much the coronavirus crisis has slowed down the development of transport industry: compared to February 2020, the month before the beginning of the restrictions imposed by the Germany government because of the coronavirus pandemic, the truck toll mileage in June was 6.6 percent lower, seasonally adjusted. In Berlin, the number of trucks on German motorways continues to increase, indicating a gradual economic recovery. For example, the mileage of trucks with at least four axles subject to tolls increased by 4.7 percent from May to June, seasonally adjusted, according to the Federal Statistical Office on Thursday.
