China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd. reported an extraordinary increase in freight traffic between China and Vietnam in January, with Guangxi Province exporting 3,062 TEUs of goods to Vietnam, an increase of 760% year-on-year.

It takes only 14 hours to transport goods from Nanning Station in China to An Vien Station in Vietnam, a benefit in terms of both time and cost efficiency.

Huang Wenhan, an employee at the Nanning Railway Logistics Centre, reported strong growth in various commodity categories since the beginning of the year. Shipments of fibreboard, LCD screens and diesel engines have increased by 1,000%, 254% and 33% respectively year-on-year. In addition, a number of Lunar New Year products, such as sweets, beverages, decorative boxes and spices, experienced peak shipping volumes in mid-January, with an additional cross-border freight train added daily to meet demand.

In response to the growing demand for transport along the China-Vietnam railway, the company strengthened its coordination with customers to better understand their needs and adjust transport plans. In addition, customs authorities and relevant departments from both countries strengthened information sharing to speed up cargo handling and improve rail transport efficiency.

Freight trains departing from Guangxi have connected with 25 provinces and cities across China, facilitating the transportation of goods to various ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, thereby enhancing the efficiency of trade between China and ASEAN.
