The expansion project of Yuzui railway freight station’s north station in Liangjiang New Area – located in Southwest China’s Chongqing municipality — is under construction and will be put into operation in June, according to local officials.
The station covers an area of 5,747 hectares, including one south station and one north station. The north station that is under construction will have six freight operation lines focusing on transporting vehicles.
Once expanded, Yuzui railway freight station will be able to transport 750,000 vehicles per year and load 50,000 standard containers.
Officials said Yuzui railway freight station will play a key role in connecting the New Land-Sea Corridor, China Express Railway and the Yangtze River waterway. It will be a multimodal transport hub serving the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
Guoyuan port, where Yuzui railway freight station is located, covers an area of 20 square kilometers and will able to import and export meat, fruit, grain and seafood in the future, which officials said gives Yuzui railway freight station great development potential.
