On November 2nd, the China-Europe freight train, loaded with light industrial products such as communication equipments, electronic accessories, clothing, toys, etc., departed from Guangzhou Dalang Station and will arrive in Volsino, Russia 16 days later. It is the 300th train launched this year in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to the Guangzhou Railway Group, this year the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has transported a total of 15,051 wagons, 156,900 tons of epidemic prevention, production and living materials, a year-on-year increase of 40.3%. The number of trains operated has exceeded the total number last year by 262, a year-on-year increase of 77.6%. It is expected that the number operated throughout this year will reach at least 350.

Among those, the trains which load with cross-border e-commerce goods from Shenzhen City have made the main  contribution. Since its launch in 2020, the Shenzhen trains have transported 3,695 wagons of goods. The frequency of operation has increased from the beginning one trip per week to four trips per week nowadays.

Since 2013, the three cities of Dongguan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen have become the main stations of Guangdong Province for the China-Europe freight train. “Guangdong is called as a ‘world factory’ with a solid supply of goods. The cities where the freight trains launched, are located in the Pearl River Delta region where foreign trade is well developed. This is an important reason for the continuous increase in export demand in recent years.” Song Haitao, director of the Freight Department of Guangzhou Railway Group, said.
