According to China Railway Group, in January this year, the total number of China-Europe freight trains running has reached 1410, carried 147,000 TEUs, an increase of 6% and 13% year-on-year respectively.
Since the beginning of the year, the Chinese railway authorities have expanded the domestic section of the freight trains by more volumes. It means that each freight train running in China can carry 55 40ft-containers, instead of 50. As a result, the container delivery capacity of a single freight train has increased by about 8% on average.
